Best known for her long running Lead role as Tiffany Bowles in STV’s ‘High Road’, Rachel has recently appeared in Channel 4’s multi Bafta award winning ‘Dead Set’ and was seen as Guest Lead Eileen Mulray in an episode of ‘Taggart’ for STV. Radio includes ‘Splitting The Atom’ and ‘The Fly’ for the BBC Radio 4 series ‘Weird Tales’, both written by Lynn Ferguson.
She has performed in theatres from Glasgow to London’s West End as well as touring in productions worldwide. Theatre includes Margaret Hymen in Arthur Miller’s ‘Broken Glass’ (York Theatre Royal and Bolton Octagon), Desdemona in ‘Othello’ (Traverse Theatre & UK Tour), Estella in ‘Great Expectations’ (UK & World Tour), Huckleberry Finn and Becky Thatcher in ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’ (Manchester Contact & UK Tour), Elaine in ‘Arsenic and Old Lace’ (West End), Pearl in Stephen Berkoff’s ‘West’ (Edinburgh Festival), Jocasta in ‘Oedipus’ (London Fringe), Lady Capulet in ‘Romeo and Juliet’ (Dunstaffnage Castle), Lady Macbeth in ‘Macbeth’ (Scottish Tour), Elmire in ‘Tartuffe’ (Scottish Tour), Laura in ‘The Glass Menagerie’ (UK Tour), Pauline in ‘Golden Girls’ (Perth Rep) and Hermia in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ (Scottish Chamber Orchestra).
Rachel has made several appearances at the Edinburgh Festival, including the critically acclaimed 2008 run at the Gilded Balloon of her one-woman show ‘The Crossing’, which she wrote, produced and performed. ‘The Crossing’ went on to tour the UK and the US.
As well as appearing as regular Lead Tiffany Bowles in STV’s ‘High Road’, television includes Marjorie Morton (Guest Lead) in ‘River City’ for BBC Radio Scotland, Bethany Quinn (Guest Lead) in ‘Family Affairs’ for Channel 5, and Anne (Lead) in Alan Plater’s ‘Misterioso’ for BBC Scotland. Other television appearances include Tamara in ‘City Lights’, Wendy in ‘Workhorses’ both for BBC Scotland, Karen in ‘The Britoil Fraud’, Marianne in ‘Winners and Losers’ both for STV, and as Ruth in the political drama ‘The Ball On The Slates’ for Channel 4. Presenting work includes the childrens’ series ‘Around Scotland: On The Beach’ also for BBC Scotland.
